At first glance, it’s a picture-perfect portrait of the popular Wales family in celebration of the festive period.

But just days after the release of Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales’ Christmas card featuring their children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, eagle-eyed royal watchers have noticed something unusual.

Social media is alight with speculation that the stunning family photo may have suffered a Photoshop fail – with young Louis’ left hand appearing to be missing the middle finger.

Some pointed out that the five-year-old may have simply stretched out his hand, or tucked his finger underneath, but either way, it looked a little … odd.

The family opted for matching plain shirts for this year’s annual Christmas card, with William and his sons dressed in dark pants and Kate and Charlotte in jeans.

The black and white portrait was taken by famed British magazine photographer Josh Shinner earlier this year.

While the Wales’ opted for a more casual card offering this year, King Charles and Queen Camilla went in a very different direction.

The couple used one of the images from their lavish May coronation, in which they’re both decked out in full royal regalia – including jewel-encrusted crowns.

The photo was shot by Hugo Burnand in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace after the pair were crowned at Westminster Abbey in May.

As is tradition, Charles and Camilla will spend Christmas at Sandringham along with other members of the royal family, as well as Camilla’s grandchildren.

It comes after reports circulated that Harry and Meghan were hoping to spend Christmas in the UK for the first time in years.

A friend of the US-based couple told The Sunday Times in November that after the “friendly” call between Harry, Meghan and the King in honour of Charles’ 75th birthday, the pair “would love to” celebrate the festive holiday with the royals.

“I can’t imagine the Sussexes would decline an invitation to spend time with His Majesty,” the insider told the publication.

“As of yet, there have not been any invitations for the holidays.”
