- A DoorDash delivery man is receiving backlash after unwarrantedly insulting a military veteran while delivering her pizza.
- The kind veteran graciously thanked the delivery man and generously gave him a 25% tip.
- The man was displeased with the amount and hurled offensive words at her, to which she recorded the incident and posted it on TikTok.
A couple of days ago, a video was published on TikTok showing a delivery man hurling offensive language toward a Texas-based military veteran after delivering a pizza to her home. The delivery man, identified as Dasher Corey, had been working for DoorDash, an online food ordering company.
Lacey Purciful, the military vet, had generously tipped Corey 25% for a $20 pizza, which Corey was less than pleased with. Footage from Purciful's doorbell camera showcased the entire exchange. Despite being taken aback by Corey's rude behavior, Purciful still led with kindness.

The video shows Corey handing Purciful her family's dinner, for which she immediately thanks him. After handing over the pizza, Corey annoyedly said:
"I just want to say it's a nice house for a $5 tip."
As he turns back around to leave, Purciful shouts out you're welcome, and Corey then hurls curse words at her before departing.
Purciful placed a food order with DoorDash because she had been recently injured in a head-on collision with an intoxicated driver, rendering her spinal cord severely injured. So, she had been relying on the food company to keep her family fed until she made a full recovery.

The Delivery Man Faced Repercussions from His Company after the Offensive Incident
Before she joined the military, Purciful worked in the restaurant industry for many years and understands only too well the importance of being generous with tips to servers. She also prides herself in being a good tipper and provided proof of her generosity over the years. She posted a picture of her previous orders with DoorDash, showing one instance where she gave close to a 60% tip on a $17 bill.
After the incident, Purciful's husband contacted DoorDash to alert them about what had just happened. The company then gave the couple a $5 voucher, but after the situation escalated, DoorDash decided to look into the matter further.
She disclosed that previous orders have been extremely late to the point where sometimes the food will no longer be edible.

After DoorDash investigated the matter, they gifted Purciful an additional $75 voucher and fired Corey. A spokesperson for the food company released the following statement:
"Respectfully asking for a tip is acceptable, but abusing or harassing someone is never acceptable. We've removed this Dasher from our platform and [contacted] the customer. Our rules exist to help ensure everyone who uses our platform... have a safe and enjoyable experience."

Before DoorDash managed to de-escalate the situation and intervene appropriately, viewers who saw the video had a lot to say. Many commented on Corey's appalling behavior and called for him to be immediately dismissed from his job. A TikTok user who then later heard of the resolution of the issue deemed his termination justified:

Although the issue ended up getting resolved, Purciful shared that this instance was not the first problem she had with DoorDash. She disclosed that previous orders have been extremely late to the point where sometimes the food will no longer be edible, or a delivery person will simply leave the food on her doorstep without informing her it's there.
